Highroads Traveler- Wild Ireland: The Great Blasket Islands!

lreland's Wild Atlantic Way runs the western coast of the country along some of most beautiful rugged green cliffs and sapphire blue water in the world. South of Galway and the Cliffs of Moher lie the Dingle Peninsula which juts out in to the Atlantic Ocean. Slea Head is the last point on the mainland, and then 3 more miles offshore lie the Great Blasket Islands. No longer inhabited by people, the Blasket Islands are an amazing refuge for sea life and tourists. It's just a 20 minute ride on a rubber Rib Boat and worth the trip!
