Did you ever wake up and think, "I want to be thought of as a world traveler?"

Essential #1

Where do I start?

The very next cool movie you see - go there!

There is literally a world of reward and treasure waiting for the minute you decide to pack your bag & hop on that plane.

Essential #2

See the 50 States.

If you’re in the US, head out in any direction and see 3 new states. Stop and explore in 1, stay and explore in 2, and relax for a few days in the third! My kids took me to Montana for my 50th Birthday/50th State! And when you travel abroad, you’ll have the street cred of knowing your own country.

Essential #3

Make your overseas Bucket list.

Once you write it down, it exists! When you see it on paper, you’ll realize it’s not at all far-fetched. Friends may even chime in and want to join.

Essential #4

Go where it makes sense economically.

Hit countries on your bucket list sensibly –

If Norway is expensive in June, try Peru!

We had a plan for Europe. So what? We switched to South America when we found airfare at 1/2 the price. Scandinavia isn’t going anywhere. We said, “Let's climb Macchu Picchu instead!”

Essential #5

Practice the language, and then use it.

We are firm believers in learning the "15 most important words” in each country we go. It’s fun and gets us engaged early before the trip. And every country loves when you can speak a few words of their language.
